Experiments with enough – Day 53

Sign in Malta - Experiments with enough

Day 53 was delightfully random. After several days stuck to a computer, albeit in different locations, I finally spent a day running around. The day started at 7:30am with a run to Gharghur with Bettina, one of the two Bienbale exhibition curators, to pick up a van. We spent a whole afternoon picking and delivering things related to the exhibition. A ground fireworks wheel from San Filep band club in Zebbug, delivering that to Bighi where all the Heritage Malta artefacts are being gathered and packed in preparation for shipping. Later a big piece of wood that we took to the printers and a rather massive Perspex box that just exceeded the opening size of boots and doors of regular hatchbacks that we needed to take to Valletta where the exhibition designer is finishing plans for where every item goes and also packing thing and in preparation for shipping.

It all felt like a little curatorial road trip. Not, I imagine what was probably on the original list of things the curators thought they would end up doing when they won the pitch for the job.

After catching up with some of my emails and paperwork I went on my own little road trip to source wood for some shelves I need to put up in my bedroom. An incredibly kind carpenter in Mriehel let me have some extra bit he had lying around and even planed them, cut them to size and rounded the edges for me for free. Kindness magic very much appreciated.

I finally made it to my parents for a little visit (I’ve not been in a while), collected a fun paper saying I need to pay provisional tax and social security by the end of the month and eventually made it home and out to a dear friend’s birthday drinks in Valletta.

A good day was had all round.
